UPSC NDA, CDS I Exam 2024: Those who wish to appear for the examination can check the official notice on the website of UPSC, upsc.gov.in

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the notification of the National Defence Academy, Naval Academy Examination (I) and the Combined Defence Services (CDS) I exam. The exams will be conducted on April 21, 2024. Those who wish to appear for the exams can check the official website of UPSC, upsc.gov.in. The last date for submitting online applications is January 9, up till 6 pm. A total of 457 CDS I vacancies and 400 NDA vacancies are on offer.

The UPSC conducts the Combined Defence Services and National Defence Academy and Naval Academy Examination twice a year. The second phase of examination NDA and NA II and CDS II is scheduled to be held on September 1, 2024, whereas the date of notification is May 15, 2024.

UPSC NDA, CDS I: Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification: Candidates must pass Class 12 to be eligible for the NDA exam. For CDS, it is necessary to be a graduate of a recognized university. One must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering to join the Navy, whereas for the Air Force Academy one must have passed Physics and Chemistry in Class 12 along with a Bachelor’s degree.

Age limit: Candidates applying for the NDA exam must be 16.5 to 19.5 years of age. However, for the CDS exam, those applying for Air Force and Navy must be between the age cap 19 to 23 years and for Officers Training Academy, candidates must be 19 to 24 years of age.

The UPSC NDA and CDS exams are held in two phases — a written examination and an interview round. The written exam carries 900 marks and comprises two papers — mathematics and general ability. The mathematics paper contains 300 marks, and the general ability test is 600 marks. The duration of each paper is 150 minutes. The UPSC CDS examination is for IMA, INA, and AFA posts. It consists of three papers: general knowledge, English language, and elementary mathematics. Each paper carries 100 marks, and the time for the exam is 2 hours.
