A Raja refutes Pradip Baijal's claims, says never worked with him
Baijal has alleged that Manmohan Singh warned him of dire consequences if he didn't cooperate in the 2G case.

New Delhi: Former telecom minister A Raja on Monday denied former Telecom Regulatory Authority of India chief Pradeep Baijal's allegation that he worked in tandem with then prime minister Manmohan Singh and former union minister Dayanidhi Maran to facilitate the scam.

Raja said, "I never worked with Pradip Baijal when he was TRAI chief."

Baijal has alleged that Manmohan Singh warned him of dire consequences if he didn't cooperate in the 2G case.

In a tell all book, the former TRAI chairman has claimed that the UPA II government ruined his reputation to divert corruption charges against the coalition government. Baijal said he had warned several people in the UPA II government that all enquiries would lead back to the PM, as he had approved the actions of ministers and ministries in his government.

Standing by what he has written in his book, Baijal had said, "This is written in Finance Ministry's note given to the PMO and several other records in which it is said that he was aware of what was happening. I stand by every word of what I have written in the book. The PM had asked me that I must listen and abide by the instructions of the Telecom Minister. I told him that following those instructions was dangerous, and could lead to a big scam in 'unbelievable' proportions and that's exactly what happened," he said.

Baijal has also said that Maran took all decisions freely and threatened him if he did not comply with his instructions. "This whole thing started with Maran when he didn't want me to give my recommendations on unified service licencing even though the Cabinet in 2003 had specifically told the TRAI to give recommendations," he said.
