AAP Demands Amit Shah's Resignation, FIR Against Anurag Thakur 'for Inciting' Jamia Shooting
The AAP alleged that the Jamia firing was a BJP conspiracy to get the Delhi elections postponed as the "saffron party knows it is losing" the polls scheduled for February 8.

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday demanded the resignation of Union home minister Amit Shah and an FIR against MoS Finance Anurag Thakur after a Jamia Millia Islamia student was shot at by a man shouting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ and ‘ye lo Azadi’ slogans at a protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act.

The AAP alleged that the Jamia firing was a BJP conspiracy to get the Delhi elections postponed as the “saffron party knows it is losing” the polls scheduled for February 8. The BJP was behind the “disgusting” act committed on the Martyrdom Day of Mahatma Gandhi, AAP leader Sanjay Singh alleged.

“The BJP did such a disgusting act on the Martyrdom Day of Gandhi ji. The BJP and Home Minister Amit Shah are scared of losing the upcoming polls and they are trying to get the polls postponed through the act. Amit Shah has tied the hands of the Delhi police in Jamia that is why they were mute spectators of the incident,” Singh said in a tweet.

Questioning the inaction of the police personnel present at the spot, Singh’s cabinet colleague Ajoy Kumar said the gunman was even live on Facebook moments before the shooting.

“The man is so fearless that he does a Facebook live from his phone. It is clear that police are offering protection to the man. We demand the resignation of Amit Shah and an FIR against Anurag Thakur. Delhi Police must explain how the man could brandish a gun,” Kumar said.

Other opposition parties, too, have held Thakur responsible for inciting the attack. The junior finance minister had a few days ago repeated the communally charged ‘goli maaro saalon ko’ slogan voiced by Delhi BJP leader Kapil Mishra at a pro-CAA rally.

Home Minister Amit Shah said he has directed Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take the strictest action in the case.
