New Delhi: Call it an excellent media management or just a coincidence, the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is stealing the show on all big days. He has filed his nomination papers from Varanasi on Thursday, the voting day of the 6th phase at a big event. Modi who landed in Varanasi in the morning went to the Collectorate to file his papers in a huge procession.
His critics allege that he chose Thursday to file nomination papers to indirectly influence the voters across 117 Lok Sabha seats, where the voting is underway. But, the BJP dismisses all such comments as a sign of desperation on part of the Congress and other 'pseudo' secular activists.
They clarify that there is no ban on a candidate filing his nomination paper on the day of voting in other constituencies. His critics claim that his nomination filing and public speech are live events on television channels and it influences voters in the constituencies, where the voting is underway.
This is not the first time, Modi has done something like this. He filed nomination papers from Vadodara on April 9, the day of the second phase of polling.
Before that, he chose April 7, the first day of the Lok Sabha polling to release the BJP manifesto. Despite the Election Commission's instructions, there was live television coverage of the manifesto release.
Modi backers question the objections raised by the Congress and others describing it as a 'sour' grape story. They point out that even the Congress leaders were free to use big polling days to file nomination papers or to release party manifesto.
