Patna: Nearly 25 members of India Against Corruption (IAC) were detained in Patna on Sunday after they shouted slogans against Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid outside the residence of the Governor. A few activists even burnt effigies of the minister who has been struggling to come clean of corruption charges levelled against him by activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal following media reports and a sting operation by a TV channel that alleged irregularities in the usage of funds at the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust, an NGO run by the Khurshid and his wife, Louise.

Meanwhile in Delhi, events were largely peaceful, except when the Law Minister himself lost his cool during a press conference he held to issue clarifications on the charges against him and his wife.

"Nothing can be proved... Not a word can be proved. They can scream, scream and scream till they turn blue in their face," said the Law Minister at the one-and-a-half hour long press conference, where he was seen losing his temper a number of times. Asked whether he would resign, Khurshid dubbed it as a "disputed question of journalist ethics and political ethics". "I will submit my resignation if Aroon Purie (TV Today Chairman-cum-Managing Director) also steps down," he said.

The Law Minister is expected to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday. Meanwhile, Kejriwal has said he will produce more proof against the union minister as his protests continue for the fourth day.
