New Delhi: While the Bharatiya Janata Party may have been claiming that there is a Narendra Modi wave in the country and it will on its own get more than 272 seats, the party is also trying to get more parties on board to avert any risk. Party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain has said that after the exit polls which gave clear majority to the NDA, conducted by various news channels, the entire nation wants to join the party.
He added that the party's doors are always open to parties who want to be part of the NDA. "We will take everyone together. If someone wants to join us, our doors are always open," he said.
Shahnawaz's words give credence to the belief that the BJP is looking to completely isolate the Congress.
The BJP led National democratic alliance has got the support of 25 national and state level parties.
Ram Vilas Paswan's Lok Janshakti Party joined the NDA a few weeks before voting started, but its fate is to be seen as it didn't open its account in the 2009 elections. Raj Thackeray had vowed it support to Modi post polls but with the Shiv Sena as one of the allies of the NDA, the picture looks dim for the MNS-BJP alliance.
While it has secured an alliance with the Telegu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh, it also lost its long time ally JD(U) in 2013 after Modi's anointment as NDA's prime ministerial candidate.
But the AIADMK and BJP are warming up to the party. Shahnawaz's remarks also hold importance in the light of BJD's leader Pravat Tripathi comments that it may ally with the BJP post results.
BJP, a former ally of the BJD which had earlier vowed support to a non-BJP, non-Congress Front at the Centre, has now indicated that the party is willing to do business with a Narendra Modi-led government and demanded special status for Odisha in return.
Meanwhile, NCP leader Praful Patel had denied any alliance with the NDA post elections but rumors are riff that he may join the BJP.
