Cash-for-vote case: KCR hits back at Naidu, calls him a thief, says even god can't save him

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao hit back at his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu in alleged cash-for-vote scam and publicly called him a thief. The remarks came after Naidu accused Rao of illegally tapping his phone.

Rao said, "Chandrababu Naidu is a thief and even god can't save him now. A thief will always be called a thief. Hyderabad is not Naidu's property."

The war of words broke after the Telugu Desam Party pointed fingers at the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and even filed a defamation case against Rao for illegal phone-tapping.

Naidu said, "TRS is in power but that doesn't give them the power to tap my phone. I am not be scared of these tactics. TRS themselves have defected MLAs from various parties. I have not done anything wrong. If false case is built against me, I will not spare anyone."

Naidu is in middle of the cash-for-vote controversy after an audio tape surfaced wherein the Chief Minister was allegedly trying to bribe nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to support his Telugu Desam Party in the Telangana Legislative Council election. The purported telephonic conversation which gave a new twist to the controversy, the Chief Minister was reportedly telling Stephenson that all commitments will be honoured in return for support during the election.

Meanwhile, an Anti-Corruption bureau team on Tuesday raided arrested TDP MLA Revanth Reddy's residence in the alleged cash-for-vote scam. On May 31, the ACB arrested Reddy for allegedly trying to bribe the nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to vote for TDP nominee in the Telangana Legislative Council election.

Based on a complaint by Stephenson, ACB officials held Revanth Reddy, Sebastian Harry and Uday Simha after they were caught while allegedly handing over Rs 50 lakh to Stephenson.
