‘Daddy’ Issues? After Baba Siddique’s Exit, Son & Mumbai MLA Zeeshan Removed from Mumbai Youth Congress Prez Post
When News18 contacted Zeeshan Siddique, he said, “I am travelling and not in Mumbai. Till now, I have not received any official communication from the party. Once I am back, I will understand the matter. On Thursday, I will address a press conference on the issue.”

After his father and Congress veteran for 48 years Baba Siddique snapped ties with the party, Congress MLA Zeeshan Siddique has been removed from the post of Mumbai Youth Congress president. Young leader Akhilesh Yadav has been promoted to the post. Sufiyan Haidar has been made the ‘working president’ of the Mumbai Youth Congress.

Srinivas BV, national president, Youth Congress, issued the letter intimating about the organisational changes.

When News18 contacted Zeeshan, he said, “I am travelling and not in Mumbai. Till now, I have not received any official communication from the party. Once I am back, I will understand the matter. On Thursday, I will address a press conference on the issue."

Along with Zeeshan, eight other changes have been made to the Youth Congress ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Srinivas has changed the Youth Congress president and working president of Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Andaman and Nicobar, Goa and Delhi.

According to sources, Zeeshan was removed as his father joined the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). Sources also indicated that recently, Zeeshan had started to remain absent from party meetings, hence this action was taken against him.

Another reason being given is that Ajit Pawar had visited Zeeshan’s office before Baba Siddique officially joined the NCP. The way Zeeshan welcomed him had raised eyebrows in political circles, leading to further suspicion that he will be also joining the NCP. However, later, he clarified that he was not leaving the party.

After his father’s exit, Zeeshan had expressed displeasure over not being invited for government functions in his constituencies during the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) regime. Zeeshan had also raised this issue with senior Congress leaders.

In the past, Zeeshan had also said that he hardly got funds in the MVA and it was Ajit Pawar who helped him with funds for development work in his constituency.
