New Delhi: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday faced angry protest at Nand Nagri area in North East Delhi as a group of people showed black flags to her protesting escalating prices of essential commodities and hike in power tariffs.

The protesters shouted slogans against Sheila and even clashed with police personnel when they tried to evict them from the venue of the function.

The Chief Minister had gone there to inaugurate a road under bridge (RUB) at a Railway level crossing at road no 68. Power tariff was hiked by 26 per cent for domestic consumers last year.

Later, addressing the function, Sheila said Delhi has seen "tremendous changes" over the past few years as the government has enhanced its infrastructure to a great extent.

"Delhi has seen major infrastructural changes over past few years and the city has the infrastructure of a modern city. All the infrastructure has been developed while maintaining Delhi's green cover," she said.

The Chief Minister also complimented Delhi Tourism, which built the RUB, for successfully implementing various infrastructure projects.

The RUB has been constructed at a cost of Rs 136 crore. Sheila said commissioning of Monorail in East and North-East Delhi will significantly improve public transport in the area.
