Panaji: Two Congress ministers in Goa, who had resigned from the state Cabinet and the party on Sunday, have decided to reconsider their exit after meeting the party high command. Upset over the disqualification of Churchill's daughter Valanka from Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (GPYCC) elections, Churchill and Joaquim Alemao, both Congress ministers in Kamat Cabinet, had submitted their resignation.
On Monday night, Churchill Alemao told PTI from Delhi that they are "rethinking on their resignations, after meeting the party high command."
The Alemaos held talks with Jagmit Singh Brar, the Goa desk in-charge of Congress and Ahmed Patel, political advisor to party president Sonia Gandhi in Delhi. Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat was also present during the meeting.
Alemao said the party leaders have asked them not to quit. "They (party leaders) have assured that Valanka would be given due importance for a party ticket during the forthcoming Goa legislative assembly elections," he said.
Even though both the ministers had resigned from the cabinet and even from the party's membership, their resignations were kept on hold by Kamat, who had rushed to Delhi to sort out the issue.
