Bangalore: Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and his brother HD Revanna were among the 64 candidates whose names were cleared by the JDS in its first list released on Monday for next month's assembly elections in the state.
In the list that was announced barely two days ahead of the April 23 deadline for filing of nominations for the first phase of election slated for May 10, JDS has renominated 25 former MLAs of the dissolved assembly and awarded tickets to the kin of two of its leaders.
Party spokesman YSV Datta denied that the JDS had delayed the list till the Congress and BJP announced their candidates.
While Kumaraswamy will seek re-election in Ramanagar assembly segment, his elder brother Revanna will also bid for re-election from his home turf Holenarasipur in Hassan district.
C Chennigappa, who was accused of collecting bribes from Bellary mines owner, has managed to get ticket for his son DC Gowrishankar from Madhugiri while Vijayalakshmi Bandi Siddegowda has secured ticket to her son A B Ramesh Bandisiddegowda from Srirangapatna constituency.
Other notables whose re-nomination has been approved by the party parliamentary board include former minister N Cheluvarayaswamy (Nagamangala), B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan (Chamarajpet), H K Kumarswamy (Sakleshpur reserved).
Chennigappa is trying for a berth from Doddaballapur as his erstwhile Koratagere constituency in Tumkur district has become a reserved one in the delimitation process.
