Clearly elated at the victory of the Mahagathbandhan, Janata Dal United leader Nitish Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad thanked the voters for the massive mandate that they have received in the assembly elections. "Clear mandate for grand alliance reflects the wisdom of the people of Bihar despite an aggressive campaign. I thank people of Bihar for unequivocal and solid support to the grand alliance,"he said.
Nitish claimed that the people of the state have outrightly rejected the attempts at polarisation and given a decisive mandate. Taking potshots at the Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government at the Centre, he said, "we will expect support from the Centre for Bihar's growth irrespective of whatever happened during the poll campaign
Nitish also asserted that the Bihar poll outcome will have implications on the national level as it it makes it clear people have a strong alternative at national level.
He added that despite the bitterness during the election campaigning, they will make attempts to work together for the development of the state. "Will not hold any grudge despite whatever happened during the poll campaign and will work with all keeping a positive mindset," he said.
Meanwhile, Lalu also did not miss any chance to mock the Prime Minister by questioning his intent over his congratulatory message to the Bihar Chief Minister. "It is good to know that Modi has congratulated Nitish for the victory but was he genuine," Lalu questioned.
Lalu claimed that he will take the fight againt Modi to Delhi. "There is no clash in Bihar, the real clash will happen in Delhi," he said and further added that w=he will visit Modi's Lok Sabha constituency Varanasi soon.
