L-G Najeeb Jung appoints new chief of Delhi's Anti-Corruption Branch; AAP fumes
AAP government hit back saying the appointment is in contempt of court because the Delhi High Court had said that the ACB is under the Delhi government, not the L-G.

New Delhi: Amidst the turf war between Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung and Aam Aadmi Party government, Delhi Police Joint Commissioner MK Meena has been appointed the new chief of Delhi's Anti Corruption Branch by the former. One joint commissioner and seven inspectors have been posted to the Delhi government's anti-corruption branch.

Reacting to the move, AAP government hit back saying the appointment is in contempt of court because the Delhi High Court had said that the ACB is under the Delhi government, not the L-G.

The Home Ministry had earlier issued a statement that Lt Governor is the final authority to decide on appointments to Anti-Corruption Branch.

Jung had questioned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's decision to induct five police officers from Bihar in its elite ACB, triggering sharp reaction from the AAP government. Three inspectors and two sub-inspectors of Bihar Police had joined Delhi government's ACB after a request in this regard by the AAP government to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's office.

Jung's office virtually rejected the appointment of the five police officials from Bihar and reaffirmed that the ACB functions under his direct authority and control.

What's your reaction?
