Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan filed his nomination on Thursday for the legislative Council bypoll and declared collective assets of Rs 6.81 crore including Rs 42,27,810 of his wife Satvasheela.
As per the affidavit filed by Chavan before the Returning Officer for the May 4 bypoll, movable property in the name of Chavan is worth Rs 4,18,17,779 while it is worth Rs 30,42,810 for his wife. The immovable property being held by the chief minister is Rs 2,21,30,000 and Rs 8,25,000 by his wife.
Chavan holds 4,14,298 shares in Applied Electro Magnetics Pvt Ltd at the market value of Rs 3.18 crore while his wife holds 3,000 shares in the same company at valued at Rs 2,30,866, the affidavit said.
Besides owning a 2004-make Maruti Esteem, which is valued at Rs one lakh, the chief minister also holds shares in companies like HPCL, Hindustan Lever, Lohia Machine and Uniabex Alloy Product.
He possesses 11.5 kg silver utensils worth Rs 6.32 lakh and 250 gm gold worth Rs five lakh while Satvasheela Chavan owns 80 tolas of jewelery worth Rs 16 lakh, the affidavit said.
Chavan, who succeeded Ashok Chavan in the aftermath of the Adarsh scam, has accounts in the State Bank of India, ICICI Bank and Bank of India in Karad, Delhi and Noida branches respectively.
The chief minister has inherited two plots of six-acre and 3.5-acre of agricultural land that are collectively worth Rs 14.30 lakh in Satara district and the non-agricultural land of 2,534 square feet worth Rs 15 lakh.
He declared that his flat having an area of 1,300 square feet in Delhi is worth Rs 80 lakh and a house of 5,992 square feet, which he has inherited, in Karad Rs 60 lakh. As per the affidavit, the CM owns a 1,032 sq ft flat in suburban Wadala at market price of Rs 52 lakh.
The flat was initially registered in the name of his late mother and former MP Premlatai Chavan but was handed over to Chavan by the state government since his mother died before taking possession of the flat.
Chavan filed returns of Rs 7,22,676 and his wife Rs 2, 84,257 in 2009-10.
There are no criminal cases against the CM, the affidavit said.
