Mulayam day dreaming, says RLD chief
While SP has 88 MLAs, RLD has 10 legislators in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly.

Lucknow: Hitting back at Mulayam Singh Yadav for his statement that Rashtriya Lok Dal should merge with Samajwadi Party, Ajit Singh on Monday said the SP chief is 'day dreaming' and should concentrate on his own party.

"There had been no dialogue with Mulayam Singh Yadav for more than a year... He is day dreaming... Mulayam Singh should better think of his own party that where it is going. In 2007 UP elections, SP was reduced to 88 seats from 200," RLD chief Singh told reporters.

He said, "I had only said our doors are open for SP and Congress... We have not given any application for alliance... As of now we have made up mind to contest the Assembly elections on our own and a final decision would be taken in the party's convention to be held in Varanasi on July 29 and 20... Now even if Mulayam wishes to join the RLD, we will not take him."

Mulayam had told reporters in Delhi on Sunday, "We will contest the elections alone in UP... Ajit Singh should forgive me for saying this but he is restricted to only three districts... He should merge his party with SP... We have the same background. He will become a big leader and will command respect."

Singh said both RLD and SP have 10 MLAs from western UP.

"Now Mulayam must tell he is leader of which three districts," he said.

SP and RLD were alliance partners in UP government in 2003. But Singh broke the alliance and contested the last Lok Sabha elections with BJP.

While SP has 88 MLAs, RLD has 10 legislators in the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly.
