Mumbai: After allegations of leniency shown to former deputy chief minister and NCP leader Ajit Pawar in irrigation scam, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) is doing its job professionally and no one will be spared.

"The Director General of ACB is handling the case in a proper way and no one will be spared or shielded," Fadnavis said in Mumbai on Friday evening.

The Chief Minister said Pawar has been sent a questionnaire by ACB and based on his reply, the agency will take a call on whether to summon in for further questioning or not.

The state unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had on Thursday protested against the ACB decision to refrain from calling Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar for questioning in the irrigation scam case and called it a "mockery" of the probe.

"If a scam accused isn't questioned and grilled, is there really any chance of getting to the bottom of the scam? When a questionnaire is sent to the accused who has the luxury of answering it at his convenience, a lot of concealment is possible. This kind of questioning is a mockery of the investigation," AAP spokesperson Preeti Sharma Menon had alleged.

She had also claimed that the scam is estimated to be more than Rs 70,000 crore.
