Bodhgaya: Politicians are indulging in a war of words over the nine explosions in and around the famous Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya, Bihar. While the BJP targeted the Nitish Kumar government's alleged failure in preventing the blasts, RJD chief Lalu Yadav said that no terror attack took place in Bihar when his party was in power. The Congress on the other hand came up with a guarded response keeping in view the prospects of a future relationship with Nitish Kumar.
Both Lalu and the BJP have strongly criticised the Nitish Kumar government over what is seen as the first terror strike in Bihar. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav called it the biggest failure of the Nitish Kumar government. "Why no steps were taken earlier?" he asked. He claimed that the JDU and BJP were only interested in putting down each other.
The BJP, which was in power in the state in partnership with the JDU for over seven years before Nitish Kumar walked out of the NDA, blamed the Bihar Chief Minister for what it called is the deteriorating law and order in the state.
BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said that he can understand if the Lashkar-e-Toiba calls a terrorist a martyr, but not when political parties like the JDU do so. He alleged that whenever any minister complains about poor law and order in the state, Nitish Kumar rebukes the person. BJP has also called for a bandh in Gaya to protest against the blasts in the Mahabodhi temple on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Congress has refrained from targeting the Nitish Kumar government. Congress leader Digjiyaya Singh targeted the BJP and warned Nitish Kumar and the JDU to be wary of their erstwhile alliance partner.
