Vijayawada: Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Friday demanded that both the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P Chidambaram step down in the wake of Supreme Court's Thursday's ruling in the 2G scam case.
"The Supreme Court has indicted the Government, and the PM and the Home Minister have no moral right to continue," Naidu said in Vijayawada.
The Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled 122 2G licenses issued during the tenure of former telecom minister A Raja and held that policy of `first-come-first-served' was wrong.
Naidu alleged that along with Raja, Chidambaram, then the finance minister, too was responsible for allocation of the spectrum.
As to Union Minister Kapil Sibal's defence that UPA merely continued BJP-led NDA government's policy on spectrum allocation, Naidu said Sibal was not disclosing all the facts.
On the issue of appointment of Information Commissioners in Andhra Pradesh, Naidu said that the Congress government was "politically rehabilitating" some people by nominating them for these posts.
