New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a meeting with the heads of various ministries on Thursday and discussed the preparations to manage a delayed monsoon or below average rainfall situation in the country.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Food Minister Ram Vilas Paswan met the PM.
In a statement issued after the meet, the government said that the Meteorological department officials have briefed the ministries that monsoon is likely to improve substantially in July and August.
The Agriculture Ministry has prepared a contingency plan for more than 500 districts in the event of severe rain deficit.
The Prime Minister who reviewed the steps being taken to contain inflation said that the states should set up special courts for speedy trial of hoarders and black-marketeers.
