Hyderabad: The leaders of pro-Telangana employees of Andhra Pradesh government, who have been in the forefront of separate statehood agitation, on Sunday met Union Minister and Congress general secretary Ghulam Nabi Azad here.
"We have come here to urge him to table the bill for formation of separate Telangana during the Budget session of Parliament," K Swamy Goud, a union leader, told reporters after the meeting.
According to Gaud, Azad told the union leaders that Congress high command was unable take up Telangana issue at present as it was preoccupied with the assembly elections in five states.
Azad, in-charge of Congress affairs in Andhra Pradesh, has been holding consultations with party leaders from the three regions of the state to find solution to the Telangana issue.
The meeting of pro-Telangana employees union leaders with Azad is significant as they are a part of Telangana political Joint Action Committee (JAC), which has been, till now, critical of the Congress and Centre for not taking steps
for formation of the separate state.
