New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday requested its former judge, Justice MB Shah to head the Special Investigation Team probing the black money stashed away in foreign banks.

The apex court has also asked former judge Arijit Pasayat to take over the as the Vice Chairman of the court-appointed SIT. The SC Bench has also directed the Centre to issue a notification for this in three weeks time.

The Centre had on Tuesday submitted names of 26 people in two sealed covers to the Supreme Court. The names were procured from German authorities and the Centre said that there was no proof of wrongdoing against eight of them.

The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre to furnish in sealed cover to petitioners within three days documents and information about cases in which probe is complete.

The Centre had told the apex court that investigations had been concluded against 18 of the 26 named and prosecution initiated against them.
