Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray rakes up Ram Mandir issue, takes dig at BJP for not fulfilling promise
Raking up the Ram Mandir issue, he said, " BJP promises to build a Ram Temple but never gives a date."

Maharashtra: Addressing party workers at the Dussehra rally at Shivaji Park in Dadar on Thursday, Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray made a veiled attack on BJP. Raking up the Ram Mandir issue, he said, "BJP promises to build a Ram Temple but never gives a date."

He also spoke on the beef controversy. "Declare this country as Hindu rashtra and implement common civil code, instead of searching for beef at people's houses", he said.

Referring to the Dadri incident, he said, "Country's image has been maligned because of Dadri lynching and not because of the ink attack on Sudheendra Kulkarni."

He also went on to say, "We are still tigers, but others have become lambs." "Balasaheb would be proud to see that we're still tigers", he added.

Speaking on their ties with BJP, he said that there will be no break in ties. "We are not like Janta Parivar, we don't break a working alliance, that is not our culture", he said.

He also criticised the government on their failure in curbing inflation. "Why speak on cow (beef), instead speak on inflation," the Sena president said. "Why is it not possible to control prices of essential commodities? A government that can't stop price rise is useless. "If governments can fall on the issue of onion prices, one can't say what will happen over rising inflation," he warned, against the backdrop of skyrocketing prices of pulses.

The Shiv Sena's recent protests anti-Pakistan protests have widened the rift between BJP and themselves. On Monday, the Sena activists barged into Board of Control for Cricket in India office in Mumbai and gheraoed its chairman Shashank Manohar demanding cancellation of talks on Indo-Pak cricket series.

Earlier, the Sena activists had thrown ink on the face of Sudheendra Kulkarni, chiarman of ORF Mumbai, for organizing the book release event of the former Pakistan foreign minister Khursheed Kasuri. The Sena had also forced the cancellation of Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali's concert in Mumbai.
