Surge in BJP and Modi wave marks end of Congress era: Venkaiah
He said the allegation by the Congress that the BJP was spending Rs 10,000 crores on elections is absurd.

Hyderabad: Claiming that the "wave" in favour of BJP and its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is getting stronger, senior party leader M Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said the "Congress era" is coming to an end.

"The only way for better future of the country is the BJP coming back to power and Narendra Modi becoming prime minister. Because, we have got the credibility, we have got the ability and we could provide the stability. That's why this confidence is among the people.

"The Congress era is coming to an end. The dynasty is over. It is a good news for the country. The BJP era will start and Narendra Modi's era also is beginning," he said.

Hitting out at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for reportedly promising to provide roofs to all, Naidu said, "Who prevented you from giving roof in 50 years, who prevented you from giving security, food security, women's reservation, bringing down prices, bringing back black money, to stop suicides of farmers, not giving employment in 50 years? What are your answers?.."

He said the allegation by the Congress that the BJP was spending Rs 10,000 crores on elections is "absurd" as the expenditure made by the party is known to the Election Commission.

"The Congress should not spread canards. The affairs of the BJP remained transparent," he said.

The allegation made by the Congress that the BJP had tried to scuttle the Telangana Bill in Parliament is nothing but a lie, the BJP leader said.

"Right from Sonia Gandhi to Jairam Ramesh, they are telling lies. The BJP support only enabled Telangana Bill to be passed in Parliament. The delay has to be explained by the Congress and the TRS, which was a partner with the former," he added.
