Sitapur: The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday said it would provide free electricity to weavers and farmers and waive loans of kisans if it was voted to power in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly election.
The party would also initiate an inquiry into alleged misuse of funds by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) regime in the event of its forming the government, SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav told a poll rally in Sitapur.
"If the SP is voted to power in UP, we will provide free electricity to weavers and farmers besides waiving all loans of kisans up to Rs 50000," he said.
"We will double unemployment allowance for youths and provide flood allowance to farmers. Our government will also initiate an inquiry into misuse of government funds by the present regime," Yadav said.
Alleging the BSP government did nothing for the welfare of people, he said Chief Minister Mayawati was busy in "counting money earned through corrupt practices". "Machines to count money are installed at Kalidas Marg residence (of the CM). From Lekhpals (revenue officials) to District Magistrates- all are BSP agents," the SP chief said.
Despite being a dalit, Mayawati had done nothing for the community, he said. SP leader Mohammad Azam Khan said even death penalty would not be a big punishment for those who misused government funds for building parks and memorials.
