New Delhi: The slang match on the Ram Setu continues. Senior VHP leader and former BJP MP Ram Vilas Vedanti has issued a fatwa seeking the head of anyone who speaks against Ram.
Karunanidhi reacted curtly to the threat, saying "the head is not just something that is on your shoulder, but it's also an address."
Talking to CNN-IBN, the DMK chief said: "Even if someone takes off my head my address will remain in TN."
Karunanidhi appealed to his people not to fear or get angry. "Whether I am alive or not, I will be with you in your blood and breath," he said.
"No one can destroy me because I am a part of you. They are willing to pay in gold for my head, see what a precious head I have got. I wish these people well and thank them," he said.
The DMK chief reiterated that come what may, he would stand by his belief.
Vedanti had issued the 'fatwa' in Ayodhya in which he said whosoever chopped off the head and tongue of the DMK president Karunanidhi would be gifted with gold by the saints of Ayodhya.
Speaking in Ayodhya, Vedanti said no one has the right to question the existence of Ram.
“Anyone who speaks against Ram should be beheaded and his tongue should be chopped and who will do it will be given gold by Ayodhya's saints,” Vedanti said.
The remark comes in the wake of DMK supremo Karunanidhi’s statement on Thursday that Valmiki had referred to Ram as a drunkard in the Ramayana.
The DMK chief has repeatedly insisted that Ram never existed.
Taking strong exception to a reported "fatwa" by Vedanti for beheading Karunanidhi for his anti-Ram remarks, senior DMK leader Arcot N Veerasamy on Saturday said that he would hold a black flag demonstration in front of BJP offices in Tamil Nadu if Vedanti did not withdraw his remarks.

"If anybody says that a minister should not indulge in such activities, I will quit as a minister as post is not important to us," Veerasamy said.
He claimed that Vedanti had said the Swamji at Ayodhya would give gold to the weight of the man, who beheaded Karunanidhi.
"The blood of self respect movement is running in our body. We will make them to understand that we will not tolerate any offensive remarks about our leader," he said.
“India was a secular state and Tamil Nadu was prepared to answer the remarks of those, who were running a political party using a religion,” he added.
"If a person, who was a MP belonging to a party, which was exploiting the name of Ram to incite communal feelings, do not withdraw his remarks immediately, I, along with DMK volunteers will picket the BJP offices in the state. If being a minister comes in the way, I will quit," he said.
On Saturday, Karunanidhi cautioned the Centre against paying heed to ''religious fundamentalist forces'' on the Ram Setu issue.
“The Centre should not bow to such pressure and give up the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project, “ Karunanidhi said.
