New Delhi: Apple’s debut music streaming service, Apple Music, is going live today. Announced at Apple’s WWDC 2015, the Spotify-like music service will offer access to millions of songs on demand over the Internet on iOS devices.

Apple Music includes a service to connect artists and fans and what the company described as a global radio station called Beats 1. The service will also give artists a forum called ‘Connect’ to allow them to interact with fans by releasing demos, playlists, soundbites, videos and songs.

The service will be offered as a free-trial for first three months, after which, you will be required to shell out $9.99 per month. Apple is also offering a ‘family plan’ for a price of $14.99 for a month, to be used by up to six family members.

Apple recently got into controversy when singer Taylor Swift threatened to pull out her hit album ‘1989’ from streaming services, including Apple Music, over payment to artists. Apple later reversed its policy and said it would now pay artists during free trials of its new streaming service.

The service will be extended to the Android platform in fall.
