ChatGPT Is Coming Into Your Cars In 2024, Starting With This German Brand
ChatGPT has become popular across different platforms and in 2024, car makers will be bringing it inside the cabin.

ChatGPT is already on your smartphones and in 2024 you will see the popular AI chatbot move to other bases like your car. That’s right, Volkswagen from Germany has confirmed that ChatGPT will be installed into its four-wheelers from the second quarter of 2024. The automaker plans to bring the feature to its customers in Europe for now, but the US market is likely to be part of the list in the near future.

ChatGPT will basically help Volkswagen (VW) car owners with basic tasks like turning on the air conditioner or help them with quick answers. The company claims that an in-car voice assistant like ChatGPT could provide a natural channel of communication between the car and the driver, which sounds quite appealing for a pitch.

So why does the company want to bring ChatGPT into a car in the first place? “Enriching conversations, clearing up questions, interacting in intuitive language, receiving vehicle-specific information, and much more—purely hands-free,” which basically means convenience but also offer them easier access to data on the car which could be helpful for repair and service processes.

VW assures its customers (or anyone planning to buy its car) that using ChatGPT will not be based on you signing up with an account or having to install any app on the car or your phone.

Select VW cars like the Tiguan, Passat, Golf and the VW electric vehicles will get the feature embedded into the steering wheel or just say, “Hello IDA” to activate the AI chatbot. The German car maker says any questions you ask the chatbot along with the answers are deleted right away to give you the best level of data protection. It is using the help of Cerence, which has made it possible for ChatGPT to work in its cars using its third-party software integrated into the four-wheelers.

We have already seen cars support assistants like Alexa and Google’s voice command so it will be interesting to see how the ChatGPT version of AI improves on the existing features and ecosystem.
