New Delhi: The wait is finally over. Apple introduced at its event on Wednesday, where it released new iPhones, iPads, and updated TV, that its smartwatch will be able to support more apps in the near future, including, Facebook Messenger.
When it debuted a year ago, the Apple Watch was touted as the company's completely new consumer product in a long time. With the watchOS 2, the smartwatch receives a software update that includes new healthcare related abilities, app support and debut of much-awaited Facebook Messenger app.
The update will allow users to send Messenger texts, reply with audio messages and share their location. While users can only send pre-made text editable on the iPhone, Likes, voice clips, emoticons, and stickers, they will be able to receive all this along with videos and money through the app.
There are around 10,000 Apple Watch apps on the App Store that users could choose from. The Apple watch OS2 will be rolled out on September 16.
Other than the software update, Apple is also aiming at making its smartwatch more stylish by partnering with French luxury brand, Hermes, to develop newer editions with exclusive leather bands and watch faces.
The new finishes for the connected time pieces include gold and rose gold in anodized aluminium for the Sport Edition line up. And continuing the company's support of Singer Bono's AIDS charity, a product RED version will also soon be launched.
Other updates include a range of new colored rubberized straps and two-tone leather straps that will reflect next season's fashion trends and that are of course compatible with existing models.
