OnePlus Open is the first foldable device from the brand in the market and also showing its ambitions to rival the premium names. The OnePlus Open comes for around Rs 1.40 lakh which is higher than any other OnePlus phone launched till date but still manages to price it lower than Samsung’s Galaxy Fold models.
Overall impressions of the OnePlus Open have been positive with many people liking the features and the flagship-grade camera packed into a slim and lightweight body (for a foldable).
But the bigger question is, can this foldable handle the daily tasks and manage itself over time? For that, the best way to judge a product is probably through a best test and finally we have got one for the OnePlus Open, courtesy the popular JerryRigEverything.
The good news about the OnePlus Open is that it can handle a bend or two. The YouTuber tries his best to make the foldable phone bend but doesn’t succeed in doing so, which means OnePlus has a solid device up its sleeves. Moving further into the grueling tests, he then proceeds to put the OnePlus Open through the knife for scratch tests on the outer and inner screen.
The outer display survives till level 6 but the inner screen isn’t that strong, which isn’t surprising for a foldable. However, the glass back body is scratch resistant, as shown in the tests, and he didn’t see dust getting inside the hinge which bodes well for long term usage. He did put the Open through the burn test but that’s just part of his drill.
OnePlus Open is equally powerful thanks to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset under the hood with 16GB RAM. You have a triple rear camera setup packed into a gigantic circular module which is hard to miss. You have a fast-charging battery and the same high-refresh rate AMOLED screens on the front and inside. You can still say that the OnePlus Open for around Rs 1.40 lakh is expensive, like any phone can be, but OnePlus is making sure that all the corners are covered which allows the brand to give the Samsung’s and Google’s a run for their money.
