‘Bro Is Flash Of Decorating’: Man Transforms Old Countertop With Just Black Paint

Watching someone seamlessly paint with clean strokes and without causing a mess can be oddly satisfying. Now one such painting video is raking in likes on Instagram. The video shows a skilled painter smoothly painting over a granite kitchen countertop with the black plant. Even as he uses a roller brush to do the job, he somehow manages to reach every corner of the countertop without painting over the taps, walls, or cabinet doors. This time-lapse video was shared by Unilad on Instagram on March 15. The video was captioned, “Bro is the flash of decorating.”

Despite getting over 6,000 likes, many people were unimpressed with this video. People argued that the original granite design of the countertop was more durable than the newly renovated look. They also highlighted that once the paint starts chipping away the countertop would look messy. The pieces of chipped paint can also get into food.

One of the most liked comments on this video says, “Me when i turn food safe granite countertop to a food unsafe chipped paint mess.” Another commented, “What an awful idea, that will look terrible in a few months when the paint starts to peel.”

An Instagram user wrote, “So painting a perfect, expensive granite countertop which will last for 5 generations with some 50$ paint and covering it with a clear coat is now considered a quality decorator job?” An account remarked, “I’ve seen so many people painting over granite countertops and painting antique furniture beige or white and I truly don’t understand why.”

The above-mentioned video was first shared by ‘Diyarbakır & Batman’, a painting business from Turkiye. In the original video, the painter adds an extra decorative touch to the countertop. He uses a white and golden paint in a spray can and sprays it over the black paint. After this, the countertop appears as though it is made of expensive and rare black marble.

Even on this video, many netizens noted that the granite countertop was a better idea. Mentioning the lack of durability of the painted countertop, an Instagram user wrote, “That paint won’t stay long over that counter. It will get a bad look when you put something hot over it.” Another inquired, “Won’t that paint come out during water leaks?” It appears that even as the video was satisfying to watch, many people were concerned about the durability of the design.
