One British man, to falsely gain popularity, has claimed that he has found a storehouse of old artefacts from the roof of his workplace. He shared pictures of a Pepsi can and a cigarette packet, calling it an old artefact from the late 1900s. The post met with harsh criticism from the netizens. While some called it ‘nonsense’, others called it correct by saying that the Pepsi can in the post was first introduced by the company under ‘Take The Pepsi Challenge’ in 1908. The post has gone viral now. In the viral post, a man uploaded a picture of an old packaging of a Pepsi can and a gold-plated cigarette packet from Benson & Hedges. A yellow sticker of ‘Take The Pepsi Challenge’ can be seen on the can. The British man shared the pictures on the social media platform Reddit. “Found these ancient artefacts in the false ceiling at the workplace. Think they’re circa late 1900s,” his post read.

Some people expressed their displeasure over this post, others tried to make fun of the person based on the post. The pictures also sparked a debate among the netizens regarding the authenticity of the claims. One of the users agreed with the statement but took a jab after the owner of the post called it an ‘ancient relic’ “Late 1900s… I mean, you’re not wrong, but it has a way of making us feel like complete relics,” a user quipped in the comment.
Another Reddit user expressed his disagreement and wrote, “What? This is a nonsense ancient artefact! I was born in the late 1900s! That packet of smokes, it doesn’t say ‘gold’ at the bottom, I would say early 90s.”
Another cracked a joke, “Surprisingly they didn’t say it was from the middle of the Elizabethan period.”
In a series of comments, some amateur historians tried to tell when exactly these things might have been left in the building. One Reddit user said, “Pepsi changed the logo font between 1985 and 1987, so this logo with the sharp edges on the ‘E’ is from 1971 and 1987.”
