His teachers were convinced that the woman, who is, in fact, his mother, was his sister. To settle the matter, she had to present her Aadhar Card as evidence of her maternal status.

However sacred the bond between a mother and son may be, some instances force us to question the very essence of humanity. A recent horrifying incident in Odisha’s Keonjhar district highlights one such unsettling occurrence.
In this distressing incident, a 39-year-old man named Satrughna Mahanta, residing in Saraspasi village, has been apprehended for assaulting his elderly mother. The charges stem from the shocking act of tying her to an electric pole, all because she had allegedly stolen a cauliflower. The victim, a woman in her 60s, was left to endure this inhumane treatment, according to the Free Press Journal.
The authorities revealed that the elderly woman, who had already lost one of her sons a few years ago, had been living alone due to family discord with her surviving son. Left without any other means of subsistence, she relied on government ration and the goodwill of her fellow villagers. In a desperate bid to secure some funds, the woman had sold a cauliflower from her son’s farm to a neighbour.
Upon discovering this, the son reacted with unimaginable brutality. On December 20, he not only subjected his over 60-year-old mother to physical violence but also tied her to an electric pole, compounding the cruelty of the act.
