You would have often come across videos on social media, where foreigners channel their love for Indian culture. Some try out the famous dishes of our country, others decide to dance to the tunes of their favourite Bollywood song. Naturally, as Indians, we love to engage with such content and shower our love on it. Similarly, a video of a foreigner captured the attention of the internet after she draped a saree to perfection and danced to a Telugu song in front of the entrance of Batu Caves, Malaysia. There is something truly special about a saree, no matter what nationality people are from, they always look gorgeous when they wear it. In the viral video, you will see a foreign woman gracefully dancing in a stunning silk saree of beige and blue colour. If you look carefully, you will see that she has draped it in a typical southern Indian style with small yet neat pleats and a kamarbandh to hold the saree in place. She chose a matching turquoise blue coloured blouse with heavy embroidery and designs on it. She accessorised herself with a maang tika, a choker, a chain, earrings and bangles.
She completed the look with a garland of red flowers adorned on her hair. What will leave you in awe is her song choice. You may be expecting some Bollywood song, but she grooved happily to the beats of a Telugu song titled, O Pilaga Venkati, sung by singer Prabha. She danced in front of the famous statue of Lord Murugan near Batu Caves.
The foreigner woman’s name is Anais and her caption read, “Batu Caves. One of my favourite spots in Malaysia is the Batu Caves, that’s for sure! I have dreamed of going there for so long and felt sooo grateful and blessed to be able to visit those beautiful temples! If you are planning to visit Malaysia you just cannot miss the Batu Caves located north of Kuala Lumpur. Stay tuned for my vlogs of discovering those beautiful temples.” The clip has garnered immense attention with 10.6 million views on the internet.
One comment read, “She is too beautiful in a saree.” One more wrote, “Man this Telugu folk song is attracting attention on a global scale.” “This is so amazing. And look at you, dancing so gracefully. Love it”, wrote another.
