New Delhi: A female diplomat posted at Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka was withdrawn on the charges of financing terrorist activities in Bangladesh.

The diplomat has been identified as Farina Arshad, second secretary (political) at the Pakistan High Commission in Bangladesh.

Sources said, the Bangladesh government on Monday alerted the concerned officials in Pakistan about her suspicious activities and gave evidences against her role in financing terror groups. Based on the information, Pakistan on Wednesday removed Farina from the Commission.

The Bangladesh authorities made the move after one of the arrested terrorists Idris Sheikh confessed his link with Farina before a Dhaka court two weeks ago. It was learnt that he had conversations with the Farina several times over mobile phone between June and July, 2015.

Idris, a Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) operative, was arrested on November 29 in Dhaka and he made the confessional statement on December 6.
