Punk addresses fans
CM Punk kicked off the show, talking about his Hell in a Cell clash against Drew McIntyre. He spoke of how he was in no condition to walk and it hurt him to smile. He also said that he did not feel like a winner despite beating the Scotsman at WWE Bad Blood last week. Punk added that this was the worst he had ever been hurt, physically, in his entire life. He then thanked the fans for their long-time support before emphasizing how he felt privileged to walk the hallways backstage as his haters motivated him to earn more success in WWE.
Rollins warns ‘Big’ Reed
Following CM Punk’s words, Seth Rollins’ music hit as he walked down the ramp before staring down the Chicago-based wrestler. The ex-World Heavyweight Champion talked about how he wanted Punk to recover soon and come back to Raw to get a beating from him. Rollins then issued a warning to ‘Big’ Bronson Reed that he was coming for him. Rollins said that he was willing to give Reed the 15 minutes of fame he wanted. He challenged Reed to match at any time and place of his choosing.
Gunther retains Heavyweight title
The match began with Gunther and Sami Zayn locking up and taking turns to wear each other down. After exchanging some blows Gunther attempted an early sleeper hold on Zayn but the ex-Intercontinental champ escaped quickly. Zayn eventually landed a Helluva Kick on Gunther before positioning himself for a second one. The World Champion saw it coming and took out Zayn with a clothesline. Gunther soon landed a powerbomb on Zayn but the challenger kicked out. He eventually beat Sami Zayn with the Sleeper Hold. After retaining his title, Cody Rhodes walked out to the ring and stared down Gunther. Rhodes and Gunther will soon be seen in action at WWE Crown Jewel later this year.
