Virat Kohli's Jersey Gets INR 40 lakh as Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni's Memorabilia Bring in 1.93 Crores at KL Rahul's Charity Auction
KL Rahul donated several items up for auction including his signed cricket bat, signed Team India jersey, Team India cap, batting pads, Team India helmet, signed batting gloves and Test Jersey signed by the Team India - for INR 32.20 lakhs.

Some of the biggest names in cricket donated memorabilia for KL Rahul and his wife Athiya Shetty’s ‘Cricket For Charity’ auction in Mumbai on Friday. The auction was for the Vipla Foundation, which works towards providing education to underprivileged children.

Virat Kohli’s jersey fetched the highest bid at the acution, going for INR 40 lakhs as a total of INR 1.93 crores was raised. Kohli’s gloves were sold for 28 lakhs as Rohit Sharma’s went for 24 lakhs. MS Dhoni’s bat was sold for INR 13 lakhs, while Rahul Dravid’s bat fetched INR 11 lakhs. KL Rahul’s jersey was also sold for INR 11 lakhs. Jasprit Bumrah’s signed Team India jersey went for INR 8 lakhs as Jos Butler signed Rajasthan Roayals jerysey, Quinton De Kock signed wicket-keeping gloves, Nicholas Pooran’s Lucknow Super Giants jerysey collectively earned INR 2.10 lakhs.

“Rahul and I are thrilled to announce our first charity auction, ‘Cricket for a Cause,’ to benefit the Vipla Foundation,” Athiya Shetty was quoted as saying by TOI at the event.

“The proceeds from this auction will go directly towards supporting the Vipla Foundation’s special school for hearing-impaired and intellectually disabled children, a cause that is incredibly close to my heart,” Rahul said.

“The auction proceeds will go towards Vipla Foundation special school for the hearing impaired and intellectually disabled, which was started by my nani and is very dear to my heart. So spread the word, participate in the auction and support the Vipla Foundation in providing quality education to special children,” concluded Athiya.

KL Rahul will next be in action in the Duleep Trophy, which gets underway on September 5, in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur and M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
