Chennai Super Kings did suffer a defeat in their IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals but the fans, present at the venue in Visakhapatnam, got a chance to witness a vintage MS Dhoni in action as he produced a blockbuster cameo towards the end of the contest.
This was the first time that Dhoni has batted in the ongoing IPL.
The former CSK skipper did not disappoint the spectators.
He produced a blistering knock of 37 not out of just 16 balls.
Despite Dhoni’s brilliance with the bat, the five-time IPL champions finished at 171/6 in chase of 192.
A video of Dhoni shot by a fan while he entered the field to bat has gone viral on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
In the video, a sense of frenzy can be sensed at the ground as the fans were in an exuberant mood seeing Thala.

Dhoni’s spectacular knock against DC comprised four fours and three sixes. Thala went off the mark with a boundary to score his first runs of the season.

With 40-odd runs needed to win in the final over, Dhoni faced an uphill task to clinch a win for CSK.
South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje came to bowl the final over. Dhoni smashed two fours and as many sixes to finish with a memorable knock of 37 off just 16 balls.
This was Chennai Super Kings’ first defeat of this season’s IPL. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side are placed at the second spot in the IPL 2024 standings.
