AICTE Pragati To KVPY, Govt Scholarships After Class 12 Board Exams
Female students in their 1st year of the diploma or degree programs from any of the AICTE-recognised colleges can apply for the AICTE Pragati scholarship.

In a bid to provide financial assistance to meritorious students who dream of having an illustrious career, the government runs various schemes under which lakhs of students pursue their studies. For families who cannot afford the day-to-day expenses of their child’s education, these schemes prove to be of great help, eliminating all the hurdles on the way to their education. Since, the crucial time to make our career starts once we pass the Class 12 board exams, most of these scholarships focus on providing financial aid to students who are seeking enrolment under higher degree courses. Let’s take a look at the few schemes run by the government for students who have passed the Class 12 board exams:

AICTE Pragati Scholarship

This scholarship has been brought into effect to encourage girls’ education in the country. AICTE offers a scholarship of Rs 30,000 per year to female scholars who want to pursue higher education in the technological field. Female students in their 1st year of the diploma or degree programs from any of the AICTE-recognised colleges can apply for the scholarship.

PM Scholarship or Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme

Under this scholarship scheme, the dependent wards and widows of Central Armed Police Forces & Assam Rifles (CAPFs & AR) and State Police Personnel are provided the help in pursuing their dream careers. Initiated in 2006-07, this scheme is run by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Government of India recently approved some changes in the scholarship as it revised the scholarship amount for girls from Rs 2,250 to Rs 3,000 per month and from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500 per month for boys.

KVPY Scheme

KVPY stands for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna. It is a national fellowship scheme for students interested in pursuing research in basic sciences. Candidates are selected for the scheme through a test that is conducted annually by the Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc) Bangalore. Those studying in the 11th or 12th grade are eligible for the scheme. Besides, the ones in the first year of any undergraduate course in basic science are also eligible for this scheme.

CSS Scheme

Central Sector Scholarship Scheme is a centrally-funded merit-cum-means scholarship for students in colleges and universities. It is run by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) and aims to support 82,000 graduate and postgraduate students annually to meet their day-to-day expenses as they continue their studies.
