As the summer has already started, the temperatures have been on a constant rise every day. All the students have been eagerly awaiting the summer vacation. Summer vacations allow the students to get an off from school due to the temperature rise. Usually, these vacations last for a month. During these vacations, students can develop new skills or go on a trip. Students will also get time to prepare for their upcoming examinations during the summer break. In Delhi, the schools will remain closed in May and June.
As the heat wave has already started hitting Delhi in April, the government has announced the vacation schedule for the upcoming summer break. According to the Delhi School Calendar 2024, the summer vacation will be between May 11 and June 30, 2024. This year, students in Delhi will be getting holidays for one month and 19 days in summer This is mainly to tackle the increasing temperature. Students will also be given projects and assignments during this break. As per reports, Delhi schools will remain open for 220 days in 2024. The Delhi Directorate of Education (DOE) has directed all schools to ensure that studies are conducted over all 220 days and that holidays are planned accordingly.
The Delhi authorities have also announced the official schedule for the holidays from April to December. Schools will be officially closed during these days. So, let’s look at the official holidays from April to December:
1. April 11, 2024: Eid-ul-Fitr
2. April 17, 2024: Ram Navami
3. April 21, 2024: Mahavir Jayanti
4. May 11 to June 30, 2024: Summer Vacation
5. July 17, 2024: Muharram
6. August 15, 2024: Independence Day
7. August 26, 2024: Janmashtami
8. September 16, 2024: Eid-e-Milad
9. October 02, 2024: Gandhi Jayanti (National Holiday)
10. October 12, 2024: Dussehra
11. October 17, 2024: Valmiki Jayanti
12. October 31, 2024: Diwali
13. November 15, 2024: Guru Nanak Jayanti
14. December 25, 2024: Christmas
Apart from these holidays, students will also be getting breaks and preparation days between their examinations. Those breaks will depend on the examination schedules released by every school.
