Lakme Fashion Week X FDCI Announces Samant Chauhan As The Opening Designer Of The Atelier

Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI is all set to kickstart its Delhi edition with an array of innovative showcases and designers celebrating fashion and beauty. The powerhouse of fashion announced Samant Chauhan as its opening designer of the Atelier at the upcoming edition which will be held from October 11 to October 15th in New Delhi.

Celebrated for blending traditional craftsmanship on a contemporary fashion landscape, designer Samant Chauhan will showcase his latest presentation Ice Watch on Day 1. Through the collection, Samant aims to send out a poignant message echoing the vulnerability of glaciers. Ice Watch is a testament to his fascination with the pristine beauty and fragility of ice, a theme deeply embedded in Samant’s artistic soul.

Thrilled to inaugurate the Atelier on Day 1 of Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI, Samant Chauhan, says, “I am thrilled to be showcasing this season at Lakmé Fashion Week x FDCI! The concepts of ice and glaciers were abstract to me as a child growing up in Bhagalpur. Throughout my life, these natural elements have continued to captivate me. This collection is a manifestation of my preoccupation with snow, and I hope the audience will be just as enraptured as I am.”

A homage to his roots, Samant will reminisce about the beauty of his city, Bhagalpur through meticulous craftsmanship. With an unwavering commitment to revive Bhagalpur silk, Samant’s collection will celebrate organza silk, cotton silk and Bhagalpuri silk in a divine shade of white along with hues of blue and in delicate hints of grey, green and purple. Painting a picture of serene elegance, the garments will be enhanced with beadwork, sequins, pintuck, quiltings, ribbon work and hand thread embroideries.

In this collection, the inspiration of glaciers is ingeniously transformed into a myriad of derivatives, reflecting in categories like long gowns, short gowns, bridal trousseau, jacket dresses, bodycon dresses, and more. Mirroring his passion and fascination with ice and snow, the Atelier showcase promises to be an unforgettable experience.

The 5 Days of Fashion will also feature an array of renowned fashion designers including Amit Aggarwal, Abraham and Thakore, Falguni Shane Peacock, Pero, Tarun Tahiliani, Kaveri, Swatti Kapoor, Gauri and Nanika among others.
