Manchester United Linked With Wantaway Chelsea Left-Back Ben Chilwell
According to sources, Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to acquire the services of Chilwell. The Englishman's representatives have been working on a move away from Chelsea after being told minutes could be hard to come by at Stamford Bridge under new coach Enzo Maresca.

Manchester United have emerged as Chelsea’s left-out star Ben Chilwell’s next possible summer destination. English internationals Raheem Sterling and Chilwell have been training apart from Chelsea’s first team, manager Enzo Maresca had said recently.

A report published by talkSPORT has now claimed that Manchester United have been offered the opportunity to acquire the services of Chilwell. The English left-back was not part of Chelsea’s squad in the Premier League opener against Manchester City. Manchester United are now without left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia due to injury issues and signing Chilwell could certainly prove to be a viable option to fill up that space.

A recent report published by HITC claimed that sources confirmed Chilwell being informed during pre-season that he was unlikely to feature in manager Enzo Maresca’s plans. The article went on to report that Chilwell’s representatives have been working on options and there has been interest from clubs in Italy and Spain. But his wages mean only a loan deal is probable for Chilwell, the report further suggested.

Chilwell had previously played as a vice-captain under former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino. But the Argentine’s sudden exit from the club is now understood to have resulted in Chilwell’s supposed demotion at the Blues.

Maresca had recently mentioned that Sterling and Chilwell may struggle to get enough game time if they choose to remain at Stamford Bridge. “In this moment, they are training apart. We have a big squad, for me it’s impossible to give everyone minutes. So if they’re looking for minutes, probably it is better to leave,” Maresca told reporters, as per Reuters.

An article published by talkSPORT last week claimed that Chilwell is evaluating his options and the Chelsea board are also not willing to stand in his way if they get a suitable offer before August 30.

Chilwell currently has two years left on his deal with Chelsea. A move for Chilwell to Manchester United can work out for the Red Devils who had to deploy right-sided defender Diogo Dalot on the other side of the pitch in their Premier League opening contest against Fulham. The Erik ten Hag-coached side will next be in action against Brighton in the Premier League tomorrow, August 24.
