Wenger eyes Demba Ba as van Persie replacement
The in-form Newcastle striker is reportedly on the Arsenal manager's radar ever since Robin van Persie's departure to Manchester United.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly set his sights on the in-form Newcastle United striker Demba Ba. The Senegal striker has a buy-out clause in his contract with the Magpies, and reports are doing the rounds that Wenger is planning a USD 7.5 million pound offer to Ba in January.

Also, the Gunners, who are in search of a quality striker ever since the departure of Robin van Persie to Manchester United, are ready to offer him £60,000 a week plus add-ons. Ba, who has been in great nick since joining Newcastle in 2011 from West Ham on a free after the latter's relegation, scored twice in his club's 3-0 win over Wigan Monday night.

However, despite Wenger's possible approach, Ba, who has a year left on his current deal, is happy at the club and wants to represent it more and more in the time to come.

A source close to the player told the Sun: "Demba wants to be paid what he thinks he deserves but remains committed to the club. He loves it at Newcastle and wants it to be sorted out as soon as possible."
