Bail plea of tainted cop rejected

BANGALORE: The Lokayukta Special Court on Monday rejected the bail petition filed by suspended and absconding Amrithahalli Police Inspector Ratnakara Shetty. Judge K N Sudheendra Rao observed that the accused had asked more bribe from a victim and used a police constable for this purpose.The Inspector himself is facing many allegations and he could not be granted bail, he said.The case relates to illegal detention and subsequent demand for bribe to release Noor Ahmed, a garment factory owner in Shivajinagar.Shetty, who went underground with his service revolver and uniform following a Lokayukta raid, was allegedly using habitual offenders to blackmail businessmen to extract money threatening them to file false cases against them.
