BANGALORE: Jai Prakash Narayan park is one of the city’s bigger gardens.It contains walkways, lush gardens and jogging tracks which are well maintained.Located in Mathikere, it attracts visitors from all over the northern parts of the city.The park is all set to add a new attraction for its visitors.A swimming pool complex under construction since January 2010 is finally in its finishing phase and will be inaugurated soon.The pool is eight-laned and has facilities for seating and also other features which makes it ideal for conducting competitions.The pool is attached to the park and is located inside its premises.This acts as an added advantage as visitors to the pool can also make use of the park facilities as well.Built at a cost of `4.70 crore, the pool has been under construction for quite sometime now.The concerned engineer however is confident that it will be open to the public soon.“Only a little work like water cleaning and paint touch up is pending, we expect it to be ready in one month,” said Ravikumar, Assistant Executive Engineer, BBMP.“I had to travel all the way to Sankey tank before to swim, now I can get a full sized pool very close to my house,” said Mahesh Paonam, a resident of Mathikere.“We have been hearing that this pool will open soon since quite sometime now, lets hope it happens this time,” said Papiya another resident.The batch timings and rates have not yet been announced.Residents are however hopeful it will be in line with other pools in the city.
