Bengaluru to Get its First Ever Underground Metro Today
The train services will start at 6 AM and the last train will leave at 10 PM.

Bengaluru: In a big step, towards dealing with city's traffic problems, Namma metro will open in Bengaluru on Friday. But, commuters will have to wait till Saturday 6 AM to take the first ride.

The underground metro's first phase stretch from Nayandahalli to Baiyappanahalli will be inaugurated on Friday evening. The underground stretch will cover several important areas in the city including Vidhan Souda and other major tourist spots as well.

The agency responsible for its implementation is the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), a joint venture of the Central government and the Karnataka government.

Speaking to CNN-News18, BMRCL Managing Director Pradeep Singh Kharola Our target is to make travel easier. With this, IT employees will be benefited. We expect a ridership of 50,000 people."

The underground metro covers State Assembly and Secretariat Vidhana Soudha, Karnataka High Court and many other vital installations.

The train services will start at 6 AM and the last train will leave at 10 PM.
