THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state committee has removed state committee member and former state secretary of Karshaka Sanghom, C K P Padmanabhan, from all elected posts of the party. He was a known loyalist of V S Achuthanandan in the party. The reasons cited for his removal from the elected posts are that he had not maintained the correct accounts of the organisation and ‘misappropriated’ the funds while serving as the state secretary of the Karshaka Sanghom. But it has been pointed out that Padmanabhan, a former MLA from Talipparamaba, was one of the leaders who had levelled allegations of misconduct against Pinarayi loyalist P Sasi. Following his complaint, the party had expelled Sasi from the party recently. Padmanabhan was denied party ticket to contest the Assembly election this time. It has been alleged that Padmanabhan had misappropriated funds to the tune of `26 lakh.It was Kodiyeri Balakrishnan who conducted the auditing of the accounts of the Karshaka Sangham. However, the party has decided to retain his membership in the party. The state committee meeting, which is being held the AKG Centre here, is also expected to discuss the alleged misconduct of another state committee member and former Ernakulam district secretary Gopi Kottamurickal. It has been reliably learnt that in the event of the state committee initiating action against Kottamurickal, some of the VS loyalists, including K A Chackochan, Ernakulam district secretariat member who had levelled charges of misconduct against Kottamurickal, will also be facing disciplinary action. Some of the party workers, who had allegedly installed hidden camera in the party office in their efforts to collectevidence against Kottamurickal, are also likely to face the music in this connection.
