MANDYA: “Noted poet Pu Ti Narasimhachar converted Melkote, a religious place in Pandavapura taluk, into a literary centre with his valuable works,” said Nadoja Chennaveera Kanavi. He was speaking after presenting the ‘PuTiNa Kavya Puraskar’ to poet Chintamani Kodlekere in Melkote on Saturday.Kanavi said that the three popular litterateurs, Kuvempu, Bendre and PuTiNa, were known as the ‘Ratnatreyas’ of modern literature. They sets new trends with their rare qualities, he added. Praising PuTiNa Trust for its efforts to fulfil PuTiNa’s dream by constructing a Kalamandir, he said this would keep alive the works of PuTiNa in Melkote. Programmes should be organised regularly on the works of PuTiNa, he added.Critic Narahally Balasubramanyam said the Trust should organise programmes to educate tourists and devotees visiting the Melkote temple, about PuTiNa and his works. Chintamani Kodlekere’s ‘Gombe Mane’ was chosen for the ‘PuTiNa Kavya Puraskar’ for 2010, which carries a citation and cash prize of `25,000. He is the 19th person to receive this award.
