HYDERABAD: Textile traders, who have been up in arms against the state government for over a month demanding removal of the 4 per cent VAT (value added tax) on textiles, have decided to intensify their agitation. The Andhra Pradesh Federation of Textile Associations, which represents all the textile traders associations in the state, has asked its district units to make representations to all the people's representatives including chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy in this regard.The general body of the federation, which met here on Sunday, condemned the lukewarm response from the government to their demands and decided to intensify their agitation to pressure the government for a favourable decision.About 400 traders from different parts of the state attended the meeting. Apart from displaying flags and banners demanding abolishing the VAT on textiles, the traders will send telegrams to the PM, the governor, the CM and other authorities.
