BHUBANESWAR: Former minister and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) dissident Damodar Rout has criticised the Congress for trying to derive political mileage out of flood. In social networking Facebook, the former minister alleged that the Orissa in-charge of Congress Jagdish Tytler is trying to take political advantage of the miseries of flood victims. Before criticising the State Government, Tytler should recall what Congress government in the State did during the 1999 Super Cyclone. It is not the time to postmortem the system of relief and rescue operation, when people are marooned in 19 districts due to unprecedented flood, he said.Rout said when the Union Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat promised to extend all possible cooperation to the State Government for relief and restoration work, it was unfortunate that Tytler who was accompanying the minister criticised the State Government’s efforts. This is the time for mutual cooperation across the party lines, the former minister said and added that let the major Opposition party (Congress) ask their workers not to indulge in petty politics in the affected areas, when the Government is busy with relief and rescue operations.
