Conversion of land: MLC to meet Shettar
Conversion of land: MLC to meet Shettar

Stating that he would not attend the Dasara festivities until the government initiates action against Deputy Commissioner P S Vastrad, who was found guilty of converting 2,000 acres worth crores of rupees on the Chamundi foothills illegally, MLC G Madhusudan said he would meet Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar on Thursday, seeking action.

Responding to repeated questions, the MLC said: “Though I shared the same dais, district minister S A Ramdas never discussed the issue with me. If he has genuine concern towards people, he should have discussed it.” He said that during his last two visits, Shettar was busy with Cauvery row and it was not possible to discuss the action against DC. “Tomorrow I will meet him seeking action against the DC,” he said. He observed that an arbitrator should be appointed by the Centre to solve the land row between the Maharaja’s of Mysore and the government by considering the agreement signed in 1950.

‘No illegality in land deal'

Giving clarification over the land-grabbing allegations by a local JD(S) leader, the MLC said that he had purchased 45 acres in Mangala village of Gundlupet in 1994. A case was filed in the HC and the dispute was settled in 1999. “There is no question of illegalities in the land purchase. If so, the government can seize the property,” he said. He clarified that he has no share in Tiger Ranch Resort in Bandipur Tiger Reserve.
